An investment of approximately $35 million has been announced by the Honorable Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, Canada in the settlement services. This will enhance the resettlement capacity and ease out the process for the new immigrants to settle in rural communities and small towns.

Around 23 projects have been chosen under the Resettlement Assistance Program and Case Management Services. The process of settling in a new country has become all the more tough seeing the ongoing pandemic scenario. These programs are aimed to help new immigrants and refugees begin a new life in Canada.   

Around $21 million is announced to be invested in 9 nine Resettlement Assistance Program that will work for Canadian provinces like Alberta, Columbia, Manitoba and New Brunswick. These will probably reduce the load on the 32 existing programs working towards the settlement process in rural communities as well as in small and medium sized towns. All these programs open doors to more affordable housing. These programs provide instant and essential services to the newcomers aiming to settle in provinces other than Quebec.   

Around $12 million is announced to be invested in 14 already existing service providers. They work towards the settling process in the new communities by providing support and referrals.
