Nova Scotia Nominee Program
Program Description:
Foreign nationals who have the skills and experience needed in Nova Scotia and intend to live there may be nominated to immigrate through the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP). There are different streams under which an applicant can if they meet the criteria.

The Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) has different streams, such as the Express Entry stream and the Skilled Worker stream. Express Entry stream is for highly skilled workers who wish to immigrate to Nova Scotia. Applicants must have at least one year of experience working in Nova Scotia in a high professional occupation. The Skilled Worker stream helps employers recruit foreign workers and recently graduated international students whose skills are needed in Nova Scotia. An employer must prove that they are unable to fill the position with permanent residents or Canadian citizens.
Program Eligibility Requirements
- Applicant must have at least one year of work experience in Nova Scotia.
- Applicant must be 21 to 55 years old.
- Applicant must have a Canadian high school credential or equivalent.
- The applicant must have language proficiency in English or French. CLB 7 for skilled work in the National Occupational Classification (NOC) 0 and A and CLB 5 for NOC B positions.
- Applicant must have a Federal Express Entry profile with the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
- Applicant must have a full-time permanent job offer from a Nova Scotia employer.
- Have one year of work experience related to the job.
- Applicant must be 21 to 55 years old.
- Applicant must have a high school diploma.
- Applicant must have the appropriate training, skills and/or accreditation for the job.
- Applicant must prove language ability equal to Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 5 if you are a skilled worker.
- The applicant must show enough financial funds.

Step by Step Process
Determine your eligibility:
Check to see you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP). If applying under the Express Entry stream, create a federal express entry profile.
Apply:
Apply to Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) under the Express Entry stream or the Skilled Worker stream. Submit your application together with all supporting documents.
Receive nomination certificate:
Receive nomination certificate if nominated under the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP)
Apply for permanent resident visa:
Apply for permanent resident visa with the Nova Scotia Nominee Program nomination certificate.

HOW TO APPLY
- Create an Express Entry profile on the IRCC website if applying under the Express Entry stream. Applicants will need their Express Entry profile number and a job seeker validation code to apply to the Nova Scotia Express Entry stream.
- Apply to NSNP Express Entry stream or skilled worker stream by submitting an online application. Create an account, fill out the form online and submit it with all required documents. Read the application guide for the express entry stream or the skilled worker stream.
- If your application is approved, you will receive a nomination certificate. Applying to IRCC for permanent residence IRCC will send you an invitation to apply for a permanent resident visa. You have 60 days to upload your application and supporting documents using your IRCC account. You must meet all of the IRCC’s eligibility requirements. This includes medical, security, and criminal background checks.
Latest Program Updates
The Nova Scotia Provincial Nomination Program regularly selects candidates in the federal Express Entry system who meet the provincial labour market needs to apply for nomination. Candidates can only apply if they receive a Letter of Interest from the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration.
