Program Overview:

Foreign nationals seeking to live and work in Prince Edward Island (PEI) can be nominated to the federal government through the PEI Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) if they meet the eligibility requirements and demonstrate their ability to be economically established in PEI.

Key Program Highlights
  • Successful applicants to the PEI PNP can apply for permanent residence if nominated.
  • The PEI skilled worker program is employer-driven, allowing PEI employers to fill high-skilled positions that they cannot fill through the local job market. An applicant must receive a job offer from a PEI employer in a high skilled occupation defined by the National Occupation Classification (NOC) skill level 0, A, or B before they can submit an expression of interest. The PEI employer must have received authorization from the PEI PNP before issuing a job offer to an applicant.
  • The Prince Edward provincial nominee program is in partnership with the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
  • One thousand eight hundred twenty-eight invitations were issued to candidates under the skilled worker and express entry Category in 2020.

  • The applicant has a full-time long-term job offer from a PEI employer in National Occupation Classification (NOC) skill level 0, A, or B. The employer must first receive authorization from the PEI Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
  • Applicant must have at least two years of full‐time work experience in the past five years;
  • Applicant must have legal status in their country of residence;
  • Educational credentials of post-secondary school
  • Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 59;
  • Language proficiency
  • Have proof of settlement funds
  • Intend to live and work in PEI.
  • Applicants must have a valid work permit to be working in Canada ( if applying from inside Canada)

Submit an expression of interest

A foreign national interested in applying to the  Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI).

Submit a PEI application

Candidates who receive a nomination from the PEI PNP must apply together with all supporting documents.

Apply for permanent residency

If successful, Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program will nominate candidates for permanent residence, and the applicant can then submit their application to IRCC for a permanent resident visa.

HOW TO APPLY
  • Once an applicant has determined that they meet the requirements for the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program. Check eligibility requirements

    Applicants will have to create an account and submit their expression of interest online.



    • If the candidates receive an invitation to apply, they must submit their application within 60 days of invitation. The applicant must pay the application fee of $300. The applicant should read the PEI Workforce Application Guide before completing the application.

    • If successful, Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program will issue a nomination certificate, and the successful applicant can then submit their application to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for a permanent residency visa. Selected candidates for nomination by PEI must submit their permanent residency application within three months of receiving the nomination certificate.
