Yukon Nominee Program (Foreign Worker)
Program Overview:
The Yukon Nominee Program provides foreign nationals with an opportunity to work and live in Yukon’s province to obtain the provincial nomination certificate and apply for permanent residence. The Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) is in partnership with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The applicant must obtain a valid job offer from an eligible employer in the province and meet other requirements before applying for the program.
Key Highlights About the Program
- The Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) aims to assist the Government of Yukon in responding to labour market needs in the province. As such, the Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) is employer-driven. An employer must prove that a Canadian citizen or permanent resident worker could not be hired for the position to be filled by a nominee and offer an employment opportunity to a foreign national under one of the Yukon Nominee Program four nomination streams: Skilled Worker, Express Entry, Critical Impact, and Community Program.
- The employer and foreign worker must then complete the Yukon Nominee Program application.
Program Eligibility Requirements
- The foreign worker must meet the requirements for 1 of the three express entry programs, i.e., Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trade and Canadian Experience Class, i.e. educational credential evaluation, language proficiency result etc.
- The foreign worker must create an express entry profile and obtain an Express Entry Profile Number and a Job Seeker Validation Code.
- The foreign worker must have proof of funds.
- The foreign national must meet the admissibility requirements.
- Have a valid job offer.
- Have the intention to live and work in Yukon.
SKILLED WORKER STREAM
- Applicants must have a valid work permit or student permit if the application is made in Canada.
- Applicants must have a valid job offer from an employer in Yukon.
- Applicants must provide proof of qualifying work experience of at least 12-months of full-time work experience.
- Applicants must meet the language requirements for the skill level of the position.
- Applicants must intend to live in Yukon and apply to Canada’s Government for permanent residence within 3 to 6 months of starting work.
EMPLOYER REQUIREMENTS
EXPRESS ENTRY STREAM
- The employer must offer employment to a qualified foreign worker using Canada’s Job Bank or the Express Entry stream of the Yukon Nominee Program.
- The employer must prove there is no qualified Canadian or permanent resident for the position. This condition is met through specific job advertisement requirements.
- Employers must hire a foreign national for a position under National Occupational Classification (NOC) A, 0 or B categories to apply under the Express Entry stream.
SKILLED WORKER STREAM
- The employer must be a permanent resident of Canada;
- The employer must have been operating in Yukon as an eligible registered business for at least one year on a full-time basis.
- The employer must have current and valid required licenses under applicable federal, territorial and municipal requirements.

Determine your eligibility for any of the streams under the YPN program.
Obtain a Job Offer
Obtain a job offer from an eligible employer in Yukon. The employer must prove there are no Canadian citizen or PR that can do the job.
Appy for the YPN Program
Employer and Applicant complete and apply for the YPN program.
Apply for permanent residency
Apply for permanent residency after obtaining the YPN provincial nominee certificate.

HOW TO APPLY
- The employer and the applicant must first determine whether they meet the eligibility requirements. After that, the employer must offer employment to the applicant. Both Employers and the foreign workers complete the Yukon Nominee Program application for either the express entry stream or the skilled worker stream. All supporting documents must be notarized and submitted along with the application. The completed application must be submitted to the YNP in person or by mail. - If the application is successful, the foreign workers will be nominated to the Government of Canada to receive permanent resident visas to live and work in Yukon through the Yukon Nominee Program. IRCC makes the final decision on whether the foreign worker can immigrate to Canada.
The foreign applicant must apply to IRCC, submit all required documents and pass the admissibility requirements. If successful, the foreign worker will be issued a PR Visa.
