Canada sets a new record by inviting 1,070 Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates in the latest Express Entry draw. It beats the earlier record of January 19 draw in which 1,036 PNP candidates were issued invitations. The draw was conducted on February 2, 2022 and the invited candidates can apply for Canadian immigration. In this draw, PNP candidates were invited by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). A Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 674 was required to receive the invitation. 600 points automatically get added to the CRS score of the candidates upon receiving nominations. This makes the Express Entry PNP specific score higher in comparison to an all-program draw. Candidates those who are issued invitations can apply for permanent residency within a period of 60 days.
From the starting of 2021 itself, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has been focusing on the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) specific Express Entry draws only. The primary reason for it being is the candidates eligible in both of these programs are either already residing in Canada or possess some links in Canada.
The federal government is giving priority to such candidates as 90% of these candidates are already in Canada. Also, with them the chances of coronavirus related problems are less likely to happen. In the year 2021, a total target of welcoming 401,000 candidates was set by the federal government. Around 143, 000 PRs have already been allotted to the candidates in the previous six months. Moreover, it is expected that around 43,000 applicants per month would be accepted to permanently settle in the country. For the time being in the year 2022 also, IRCC will be conducting PNP draws.
Express Entry
In the Express Entry system, the profiles of the candidates are judged and ranked on the basis of a point-based system. It is termed as the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The scores are allotted on the parameters such as education, skilled work experience, age, official language proficiency among many others. Candidates with highest scores are invited from the pool to apply for a nomination seeking permanent residence in Canada. It is especially meant for three Federal High Skilled programs namely; Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Trades Program and Federal Skilled Worker Program.
