New Brunswick Skilled Worker Stream
Foreign Nationals who have the required skills, education and work experience needed to contribute to New Brunswick’s economy and have the intention to live and work in the province permanently can apply under the New Brunswick Provincial Nomination Program. Candidates must meet the program’s minimum eligibility requirements and have a genuine offer of employment from a New Brunswick Employer to receive a nomination.

Program Status:
- There are different streams under which an applicant can apply, ie. New Brunswick Express Entry Stream and the New Brunswick Skilled Worker Stream. The New Brunswick Express Entry Stream is designed for skilled Foreign Nationals who meet the Federal Express Entry Stream requirements while the New Brunswick Skilled Worker Stream is for skilled Foreign Nationals who have a genuine offer of employment from a New Brunswick Employer and meets other requirements.
- The New Brunswick provincial nominee program is in partnership with the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
- Successful applicants to the New Brunswick PNP can apply for permanent residence if nominated.
- The New Brunswick PNP also helps New Brunswick employers, unable to fill job vacancies with a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, recruit foreign nationals and international graduates whose skills are needed.
Mandatory/Minimum Requirements:
- Intention to live and work in New Brunswick
- Minimum of one year of full-time work experience (NOC Code skill Level 0, A, or B for express entry and high skilled work and NOC C or D for low skilled work.
- Education: The applicant must have a valid Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) which attests to the minimum equivalent of a Canadian High School diploma.
- Federal Express Entry Profile Number and Job Seeker Validation Code (if applying under the express entry stream)
- The applicant must be currently living in New Brunswick, either as a worker or international student.
- Employment with New Brunswick employer ( if applying under the skilled worker stream)
- Enrolled in a New Brunswick publicly-funded post-secondary institution ( if applying under the skilled worker stream)
- Language proficiency: Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 in all four languages for Express Entry Stream and CLB 4 for Skilled Worker Stream.
Supportive Requirements:
- Applicants must meet all other admissibility requirements such as medical tests and criminal background checks. A medical report and a police certificate may be required.

Check to see you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program.
A foreign national interested in applying to the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI).
Candidates who receive a nomination from the New Brunswick PNP must apply together with all supporting documents.
If successful, New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program will nominate candidates for permanent residence, and the applicant can then submit their application to IRCC for a permanent resident visa.
- An applicant applying under the express entry stream must first create a Federal Express Entry profile and obtain an express entry profile number and a job seeker validation code.
- All applicants must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) by registering through the INB portal.
- If the candidates receive an invitation to apply, they must submit their application within 45 days of invitation and all supporting documents. The applicant must pay the application fee of $250. The applicant should read the application guide for skilled worker stream or express entry steam before completing the application.
- If successful, New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program will issue a nomination certificate, and the successful applicant can then submit their application to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for a permanent residency visa. Selected candidates for nomination by New Brunswick must submit their application for permanent residency. IRCC makes the final decision on all applications for Permanent Residency. New Brunswick has indicated that it will continue to process applications under all immigration streams within the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) and Atlantic Immigration Pilot (AIP) program for international student graduates and temporary workers currently living or working in New Brunswick despite the challenges with the covid-19 pandemic.
