Recently there have been new alterations done in the Canada’s immigration policies. A ban has been imposed on travel from seven African countries namely South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Lesotho, Namibia, Botswana and Eswatini. Foreign nationals from these seven countries won’t be allowed to enter Canada. Travelers from these countries and those who have visited these countries in the past 14 days wouldn’t be allowed to enter Canada.
Due to the spread of new COVID-19 variant, B.1.1.529 or Omicron, travel restrictions have been imposed. Also, there is no clear information on its transmissibility and how much resistant it is towards the available vaccines.
Other updates include:
People vaccinated with vaccines such as Sinovac, Sinopharm and COVAXIN will also be now allowed to enter Canada. Individuals vaccinated with these vaccines will also be considered fully vaccinated.
Certain groups of people are also exempted from the travel restrictions if they depart and re-enter within 72 hours of leaving the country. There will no requirement for them to present a pre-entry COVID-19 molecular test result.
Further restrictions on travel are also expected as of January 15, 2022.
Individuals need to present a vaccination proof for both domestic flights as well as for rail trains travel.
From November 30, eight more airports will be opened for international flights in Canada.
