National Francophone Immigration Week is being celebrated in Canada to appreciate the contribution of French speaking immigrants in the country. Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, also mentioned how Francophone immigrants help communities thrive in entire country.
According to new immigration plans, Canada is planning to welcome around 4.4 percent French speaking candidates till 2023. The country plans to welcome all these newcomers outside the Quebec province. Also, keeping the Canada’s bilingual nature into consideration, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, have brought up many immigration pathways to recruit French speakers in the country. Through these pathways, labour market needs will be fulfilled and at the same time, these immigration candidates can also seek permanent residency status here.
How French speaking candidates can immigrate to Canada?
If French speaking candidates are coming through Express Entry, then they get an addition of 25 points to their overall score for their French speaking skills. Moreover, the bilingual candidates get an addition of 50 points. This increases the chances of immigration candidates to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residency in Canada. To be invited, candidates need to submit their profiles in the Express Entry pool.
Canadian provinces such as Ontario and Nova Scotia operate streams that invite English and French speaking Express Entry candidates.
