About Manitoba immigration programs

Manitoba immigration programs are managed by MPNP which is responsible for supporting the immigration applications to the federal government. Canadian provinces do not have the authority to grant permanent residency, although they can assist an application by giving provincial nominations.

If you want to get a nomination from Manitoba then you should first submit your Expression of Interest to the MPNP. This will qualify you for an LAA via the Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas programs. Manitoba will assign a score to the candidates out of 1,000 according to their human and connections to the province. The skilled workers in Manitoba and skilled workers overseas categories are designed to support the province in finding the right candidate who will meet its labor market requirements.

Overseas candidates are required to explain their connections to Manitoba via their close family ties, past work experience in the province, or getting an invitation from one of Manitoba’s strategic recruitment initiatives. The candidate doesn’t need to be living in Manitoba at the time of  the application. You must have a full-time employment offer from a provincial company to be eligible for an invitation under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba category. International graduates who have completed their studies in Manitoba are eligible to get invitations under the international education stream. For this, candidates need to explain that they have in-demand abilities.

What is Express Entry?

Canada’s application management system includes three federal high-skill immigration programs: the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program. The Comprehensive Ranking System is used to rate immigration candidates who submit a profile to the Express Entry system. Age, work experience, education, and language skills, some factors which, are considered to give points. Through regular Express Entry draws, the candidates who get high scores are invited to apply for permanent residency.

If you apply directly through Express Entry, you can bypass the PNP process and receive a permanent residency invitation. On the other hand, in provincial nomination, candidates get an automatic 600 CRS points and ensure that they will obtain an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
