BC PNP Tech draw has issued 71 immigration invitations

British Columbia has sent out approximately 12,000 invitations to apply for provincial nomination so far in 2021. On December 14, British Columbia has sent an invitation to 71 tech employees to apply for provincial nomination. All these invitations were issued under the British Columbia Nominee program through its BC PNP tech stream. The government of British Columbia uses the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) economic immigration pathway to grab the attention of experienced and high-demand foreign workers. The program offers a pathway to permanent residents for those who are interested to live and work in British Columbia. 

The Candidates who are invited via BCs tech draws are required to meet the key requirements of one of British Columbia’s Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC categories. They are managed by the Skills and Immigration Registration System. The minimum provincial score required is 80 for the candidates who were invited in this draw from international graduate and skilled worker subcategories. The invited candidates need to apply for nomination in 30 calendar days. 

All About BC PNP Tech Program 

According to the labor market assessment, the BC PNP Tech was introduced in May 2017 as a pilot program because it was found that BC technology facing issues in accessing the talent. After the success of the project, BC has decided to make it a permanent project. It has been designed for employers in BC’s technology sector to attract and choose international talent when qualified workers are not locally available.

The BC PNP Tech is a fast track immigration pathway designed for the open the route for high demand tech workers and overseas students. . To qualify for the stream, candidates must be registered in one of B.C.’s existing provincial immigration streams and have a valid 12-month employment offer in one of 29 approved occupations.

Weekly invitations are given out through the province’s tech program to the top-scoring individuals who match the eligibility standards. Invited candidates for provincial nomination must complete their application. Most tech applications will be approved in two to three months after the application submission. 

If candidates’ application gets approval they will obtain a nomination confirmation letter which they can use to apply for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), under the Provincial Nominee Program Class. PNP candidates automatically receive 600 points for their Comprehensive Ranking System score, which gives them a strong possibility of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency through Express Entry.
