On December 2, the province of Manitoba held a new immigration draw. In this draw, a total of 438 immigration candidates were invited by the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), which is divided into three PNPs:-
- Skilled workers in Manitoba:- 358 invites for skilled workers with a minimum EOI score of 449
- Skilled workers overseas:- 51 invitations with an EOI score of at least 726
- International Education stream:- 29 invitations available with no EOI score requirement.
71 of these invites were sent to people who applied through the Express Entry procedure.
About Express Entry
Express Entry refers to Canada’s application management system for three federal high-skilled immigration programs that include the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program. The comprehensive ranking system is used for ranking the immigration candidates who submit a profile to the Express Entry system. Age, work experience, education, and language skills, are the key factors that are considered. Through regular Express Entry draws, the highest-scoring individuals are invited to apply for permanent residency.
By applying straight through Express Entry, it is possible to skip the PNP and receive a permanent residence invitation. A provincial nomination entails an immediate 600 CRS point that ensure that candidates will be invited to apply in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
About Manitoba’s immigration programs
Manitoba handles the immigration programs via MPNP that support immigration applications to the federal government. Although provinces in Canada do not have the authority to grant permanent residency, they can assist an application by giving provincial nominations.
You need to register an Expression of Interest with the MPNP to be considered for a nomination for Manitoba. This will qualify you for a LAA under the Manitoba Skilled Workers and Skilled Workers Overseas streams.
Manitoba assigns a score out of 1000 to candidates on the basis of their human capital factors and makes connections with provinces. Skilled workers overseas and skilled workers in Manitoba categories have been developed to enable the province to identify candidates who meet labor market demands.
Candidates from outside of Manitoba show connections to the province that include close family ties, prior experience in the province, or an invitation through one of Manitoba’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives. To be eligible, you don’t have to live in Manitoba at the time you apply.
To get an invitation under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba, you should have a full-time job offer from a provincial employer. International graduates who have completed their education in Manitoba can get the invitation under the International Educational Stream. They can apply for it if they have in-demand skills.
